ZUZOU / She who is I

Series: Portrait of a she, possibly a person

“ A peculiar casualty cause people’s eyes somehow don’t see me. “

This photo series wasn’t made to voice my aversion towards racism but rather to shape my personal experience with the word black, its infinite definitions and the interpretations it finds itself haunted by. To make black more humane, to expose the delicate nuances and to make the harshness it was assigned with crumble. So we would want to see a face behind this barricade of colour.

Series: The sun had always felt cold to me.

If I could create my own light, It would be warmer right? If I then could find a way to hold on tight, there I could hold on without burning right? If no longer I lived to depend on this fleeting yellow sight, I would have the chance to be just like you right? This photo series visualises a wish for warmth while simultaneously wondering if the choice of not having any was actually a legit option at all even if it could blur one’s reality just for a small while.
